A new startup, aims to be the first private company to mine the moon's resources and sell them on Earth
Interlune, a new startup, aims to be the first private company to mine the moon's resources and sell them on Earth. Their initial focus is on helium-3, a type of helium produced by the sun's fusion process, which is plentiful on the moon. Rob Meyerson, one of Interlune's founders and former president of Blue Origin, stated in an interview that the company plans to deploy its mining equipment on one of the upcoming commercial moon missions supported by NASA. They aim to have a trial facility on the moon by 2028 and commence operations by 2030.
Interlune revealed it secured $18 million in funding, with $15 million coming from its latest round led by Seven Seven Six, a venture firm founded by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
